Bar Council Law Reform Essay Sponsored by the Bar Council Scholarship Trust, this competition is open to students and pupils and requires entrants to write a piece of less than 3000 words proposing the case for a law reform which is desirable, practical and useful.
Our Annual Student Prize. The UK Centre for Animal Law (A-law) launches a student essay competition every November. This gives students the opportunity to explore and research an area of the law that would not typically come up in their taught legal studies. The competition is open to students at all stages of study.
Each essay should address only one of the questions in your chosen subject category, and must not exceed 2000 words (not counting diagrams, tables of data, footnotes, bibliography or authorship declaration). Please submit your essay, saved in pdf format, through our website.

Our writing competition will put your knowledge of the law and skills of persuasion to the test. You will be expected to argue for or against a point of law of your choice from the information pack below. The final winners will be chosen by a Supreme Court Justice.

About the Award: The Human Rights Essay Award is an annual competition sponsored by the Academy that seeks to stimulate the production of scholarly work in international human rights law. Participants have the flexibility to choose any subject related to the assigned topic. The essay must be a legal article.

Law Reform Essay Competition. The Bar Council's Law Reform Essay Competition is aimed at developing and fostering an interest in law reform.
